The items values (exports) can all be identical, but for proper operation the display names must be different from each other. The display value can be thought of as the "Name" of a specific list item. It is important for the display value to be unique in the list. However, if the export value of an item is not explicitly specified, then the display and the export are the same. The value text is also called the export value, and it is the export value that is returned in the field.value property, not the display value. Items in a list have both "display" text and "value" text. But it is slightly more complicated that this. If multiple item selection is needed, then the list box is the only element that has this capability.Ä®ach item in a list is a text string. List boxes also have a special feature, multi-select. As such, list boxes are typically used in situations where all the list items need to be displayed, rather than selected from. List Boxes are less used on forms because they take up more space than other field types and are not as intuitive as Dropdowns. The list field is often called a "List Box" because it is a box that simply displays a list of items. In addition, the Dropdown field has one special feature, it includes a field option that allows the user to enter custom text, as well as make a selection. Dropdowns are very useful on forms because they take up little space and provide an easy and intuitive way for the user to select an item from a list. When the user presses the button the list (or menu) is displayed for the user to make a selection. Only the text field and button are visible during normal operation, with the text field displaying the current list selection. The Drop Down FieldÄropdowns are also called ComboBox fields because they are a combination of a Text Field, a button, and a List (or drop down menu). But, there are also significant differences. For example both provide the user with a way to select from a list of items, and both use all of the same list oriented JavaScript Properties and Functions. Both list element types share many similarities.
